Hi Deron -

Honored that you would take the time to come through here and share some thoughts. It sounds like Changents is an outstanding organization - I'd love to share the message here through your community. Will shoot you an email to discuss.

Matt

Great list! I already reached out to Sam Davidson thanks to your recommendation. I will also be downloading my copy of The Inconvenience of Change and provide my feedback soon. Hope you will check us out too...

Changents is the leading Internet platform that connects people who are taking responsibility for changing the world with those who can help them. Using the latest social media technologies, we equip Change Agents with a robust suite of Internet storytelling and mobilization tools - aggregated in a convenient, easy-to-use toolkit - to help them tell their stories, connect with supporters around the world and rally assistance for their initiatives. In addition to our platform, we have honed the ability to package and insert powerful story content that originates on the Changents site into conversations across the Web.

Thanks in part to a great partnership with Timberland, we are generating hundreds of thousands of story views for emerging Change Agents who are blazing trails and bringing fresh solutions to a wide spectrum of issues: the environment, human rights, disaster relief, clean water, micro-finance, health, and more. In fact, we have Change Agents working on every continent (except Antarctica) - athletes, musicians, social entrepreneurs, activists, etc. - who have established a presence in the Changents community and are using our tools to tell their stories and build teams of supporters.

Cheers,

Deron Triff

Just out of curiosity, what's the correlation between Gen Y, marketing, public relations, and social media. It seems to be a recurring thing. I'm part of Gen Y (I think, never really heard of that term until I came across these blogs) and so of course I'm familiar with social media and have an entrepreneur mindset, but I never got into marketing, but I have realized the advantages of blogging and have started my own (it's still fresh, no posts yet, bare with me). I think I first got introduced to these seemingly interrelated blogs via Jamie Varon ( I read them while at work, and I can only read the ones that aren't blocked via proxy) and most of them seem to have that similar core. I probably would've never heard about Seth Godin if it wasn't for these blogs either. So I'm curious, what is it that I'm missing?

Jenny, no problem, it is well deserved for you to be included here. We are going to do some amazing things together - I can't imagine what we'll all be doing together 10 years from now but I have no doubt there will be a lot of collaboration and establishing of some amazing friendships along the way. I second what you said about there being so much support in the online world. To offline folk, it may seem bogus, but I consider all of you friends, even if we're across the country (or even the world).

Hope to make it out to SXSW - it's dangerously close to my wedding and money might be right around then, but if there's a will there's a way. If all else fails, I'll be there for the BBQ/beer/cupcake tweetup!

Akhila - you deserve to be on here just as much as the rest of these folks. How far out is Evanston from the city? We will definitely have to get together - I just moved myself - still out in the burbs but much closer to the city - Chicago is an amazing social media town, couldn't find a better city for this kind of stuff! Here's to hoping we'll cross paths soon!
