31 Thank Yous: Our New Home

Each day in August I’m saying “thank you” to one person/place/thing that’s helped define who I am and where I am today. I’m encouraging each of you to participate on your own blog. and if you’re the hashtag type, we’re using #31ty on Twitter.

Dear New Home,

“Closing time – time for you to go out, go out into the world.
Closing time – turn the lights up over every boy and every girl.
Closing time – one last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer.
Closing time – you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.”

Seminsonic’s alt-rock 90’s classic is stuck in my head this morning. It’s been a heck of a journey getting to today, yet here we are, closing day on my first home.

A couple months ago we had no idea one another existed, but when we met, it was love at first sight.

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives together. It’s the first day that my wife and I will turn the key and open your front door to a whole new world of adventure and possibility.

So today, my thanks to you isn’t for what you’ve done, but for everything you’re going to do for my family and all of the memories that will undoubtedly be made in the coming years.

Here’s to the next step!

Your new residents,

The Chevys
