Each day in August I’m saying “thank you” to one person/place/thing that’s helped define who I am and where I am today. I’m encouraging each of you to participate on your own blog. and if you’re the hashtag type, we’re using #31ty on Twitter.
Dear Never-Ending Inbox,
Thank you, never-ending inbox for reminding me that I have shit to do.
Now, there’s a fine line between good busy and bad busy, but busy is still busy, and every day I get emails from clients means I must be doing something right (and that I get to eat).
As a young entrepreneur who only a couple years ago had no idea that running my own business would be a reality, you, never-ending-inbox are a constant reminder that I’m on the right track, and that as long as the emails keep coming, I can continue to put money in the bank and food on the table.
I try desperatley to leave you empty at the end of every single day, sometimes I’m more successful than others, but ultimately when an email pops up, even if it’s one I REALLY don’t want to answer or one that comes FIRST THING on a Monday morning (because people apparently don’t sleep), it’s a good sign.
So thank you, never-ending inbox, but also screw you, because sometimes I’m just not in the mood for the emails you continue to deliver at an (at times) unrelenting pace. From now on, at least on Sunday mornings, cut me a break.
Signed,
A guy who has too many emails already for 8:30am on a Monday, Matt.
