Each day in August I’m saying “thank you” to one person/place/thing that’s helped define who I am and where I am today. I’m encouraging each of you to participate on your own blog. and if you’re the hashtag type, we’re using #31ty on Twitter.
Dear Days Without Internet,
Ironic that I’m writing you a thank you note on the Internet, but I guess that’s just how I role. Today’s note (because it’s Friday and let’s face it, we all have better things – or at least other things we’d LIKE to be doing right now), is short and sweet.
Today I thank you, internet-less days, for keeping me sane. For reminding me that people will survive without reading a tweet by me and that the world keeps spinning if I don’t wish that one guy I used to go to high school with but never talk to anymore “Happy Birthday”.
It took me a while to get to this thank you note today because, well, I haven’t had Internet. Fitting, right? Here’s to you continuing to remind me that life will go on if I’m not watching stupid Youtube Videos or, yes, even posting on my blog.
Signed,
Your about-to-enjoy-the-weekend-sans-internet-because-I-don’t-have-it-at-my-new-house-yet-friend, Matthew

So true! I try to take at least a half day each week with no internet – it’s so important to help reset your brain, and I find ideas bubbling out when I’m not distracted by an influx of info. I’m getting ready to take a 3 week hiatus from the internet while traveling… it should be very good, if a bit scary.u00a0
