2012. How are ya’? Nice to meet you. I’ve only known you for a little over 30 hours, and I’m already labeling you as the best year ever. I know, we just met. But I have a feeling, a strong feeling, that great, great things are going to happen in the next 8,730 or so hours we have together
I’m walking into the new year with an optimistic, excited, engaged attitude. Ready to take on new challenges. Ready to try new things. And ready to make great things happen. But before I share a couple things that are on the horizon, lets recap some of the highlights from my 2011 adventure…
- I started running. Now I run a lot. In 2011, I ran over 600 miles and dropped 40 pounds! I feel better and healthier than I ever have in my life and what started as a mission to lose weight quickly became a shift in my entire lifestyle. Little did I know personal health and wellness can and does dramatically impact pretty much every other aspect of life, personally and professionally.
- My wife and I became homeowners! As terrifying as it can be to have a mortgage to think about, it’s also extremely rewarding and satisfying to have a place to finally call “home”.
- My company, Proof, far exceeded my expectations. We worked with 97 amazing clients as we helped launch new businesses, re-brand existing organizations, and partner with entrepreneurs in turning their ideas into realities. Loving what you do AND seeing your hard work pay off? There’s nothing better.
It was a year full of challenges, obstacles, learning, failure, success, and ultimately, growth. In December of 2010, I told myself that 2011 would be about “working on living” – which sums up the past 12 months perfectly. I’ve learned that it’s not about balance, but about committing to the right things, saying no to the wrong things, and trusting your gut.
So what’s in store for 2012?
Well, a lot. But here’s a couple of the big things on deck:
I’m running a marathon. It’s still pretty terrifying to say it out loud, but I’m registered and will be taking on 26.2 at the Country Music Marathon right here in Nashville on April 28, 2012. It won’t be easy. It may not be pretty, but it will undoubtedly be interesting. I’ll be chronicling my training on the blog – and I encourage you to join me on my adventure as I share wisdom and insight from the pavement.
At Proof, we’ll be taking on new and exciting clients and expanding our team. Early this year, we’ll be launching a new venture I’m extremely excited about specifically geared toward entrepreneurs and start-ups. We believe our niche is in launching new ideas and building new brands, and this new path will allow us to work hand in hand with highly-motivated entrepreneurs to create long-lasting, personally fulfilling, and memorable brand identities. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks…
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. 2011 was great. 2012 will be even better.
I hope all of you will continue to be a part of my journey – and I cannot thank you all enough for your continued love, support, friendship, partnership, mentorship, and all the other “ships”. Without you, none of this would have been or will be possible.
So what about you? What does 2012 have in store? It’s one of my missions this year to get to know you all better, and to help others in their pursuit of happiness, freedom, and discovering their own feeling of “pantsless-ness”.
I’d love to hear from every single one of you. What are your goals? What are your ideas? How can I help?
Send me an email and let’s find ways to join forces, keep each other accountable, motivate one another, or just grab a beer.
364 days from today, let’s look back on 2012 and say, “Wow, this was the best year ever!”
